Simonov: Sochi police detains about 200 migrants
In Sochi, six persons have approached the reception office of the network "Migration and Law" and reported about detention of nearly 200 citizens of Russia and former republics of the USSR.
Semyon Simonov, a coordinator of the network "Migration and Law", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that on September 18 telephone calls were received in the reception office after 3:00 p.m. "Calls were made by citizens of Moldova, Uzbekistan and Russia, who complained that at 8 in the morning about 200 people were driven into the yard of the police of the Tsentralny District at No. 60 Gorky Street, 60, and kept there without explanations under rain without food. They told that their documents were in order. I went there together with the lawyer Alexander Popkov. However, we were not let to see the detainees, police saying that there was nobody there," said Semyon Simonov.
According to his story, he stood with the lawyer near the police station for more than six hours. After 6 in the afternoon, one of the detainees – a citizen of Russia Zair Isaev – was released and addressed the reception office of the network 'Migration and Law'," said Alexander Popkov.
"Such detentions and expulsions of innocent people are violations of citizens' rights to free travel, as well as violations of the rights of migrant workers, who have all the necessary permits," said Semyon Simonov.
