Derbent school burned down six years ago was once enlisted among best schools of Russia
Two schools of Dagestan, namely, the multi-discipline gymnasium No. 38 in Makhachkala and Derbent School No. 15 have been put on the list of best educational institutions of Russia drafted by the Moscow Centre for Continuous Mathematical Education with the assistance of the Ministry of Education and Sciences of the Russian Federation. Meanwhile, pupils of the latter School No. 15 have to go to other Derbent schools, since the building of their school, burned down in 2007, is still closed for repairs. This was reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"The school building was really affected by the fire. At present, the repair is underway; however, the school itself continues working," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was explained by Larisa Abramova, the head of the department for pre-school and general education of the Ministry of Education of Dagestan.
Officials from the Derbent City Department of Education have told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the repair of the burned school building is almost finished. "The school is restored; however, it still needs interior finishing works," said Suna Gadjibekova, the deputy head of the Department of Education.
The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation hopes that the regional authorities will pay attention to the schools that had entered the list of Russian top 500.
