Sergey Dotsenko: Sochi police treat migrant workers as livestock
In Sochi, migrant workers and local residents detained during the raid carried out by law enforcement bodies and Cossacks claim their rights are violated.
Let us remind you that on September 18, about 200 persons, citizens of Russia and former republics of the Soviet Union, who worked in Sochi and who had arrived to the resort for vacations, were brought to the police station of the Tsentralny District of Sochi. Meanwhile, policemen refused to allow representatives of the network "Migration and Law" and a lawyer entering the police station.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Sergey Dotsenko, a resident of Ekaterinburg, who was detained in the morning of September 17, that he came to work in Sochi and all his documents were in due order.
According to Sergey Dotsenko's story, in the inner yard of the police station located at No. 60 inGorky Street, where the detainees were brought, about 200 persons of different nationalities were brought together. "People were standing in the open air. It was raining, and we had no place to hide. I asked a policeman why we had been detained and when we would be released. I got no answer. I asked a sheet of paper to write a complaint; however, I was not given it. I began asking for some food and drink, but they gave nothing," the man said.
According to his story, the detainees, including sick people, spent the whole day in the open air in the inner yard of the police station; after that they were released.
The resident of Ekaterinburg has noted that the reception office of the network "Migration and Law" was the only organization that paid attention to the incident.
