Karabulak starts dismantling former kindergarten, where refugees live

On November 26, the authorities of Karabulak began dismantling the building of the former kindergarten "Ryabinka", where 27 families of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the Prigorodny District of North Ossetia and Grozny have been living for 20 years and more. Local officials say that only the families, which have already received state support or having other housing facilities, are to be evicted.

In their turn, the IDPs claim that they are evicted illegally; and the financial support offered to their families is not enough to buy new housing.

Saleiman Khadziev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he had lived in the former kindergarten in Karabulak for more than 20 years after he left the village of Kambileevka in 1992 during the Ossetian-Ingush conflict.

According to his story, in 2003 he received compensation at the rate of 3500 roubles per square meter. "I couldn't buy any housing for that money; I wrote about this to all instances. Since 2009, I'm trying to return to my land in Kambileevka, but bureaucrats put all sorts of obstacles. I appealed to everybody, even to the President; I have about 300 appeals."

The tenants of the "Ryabinka" kindergarten said that they had applied to the Public Prosecutor of Karabulak and the Investigating Committee asking to make a check and take appropriate actions.
