Special operation to search for militants is on in south-west of Chechnya
In the mountains and forests of the Urus-Martan District, located in the south-western Chechnya, power agents are holding an operation to find and neutralize members of the armed underground, the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported.
Let us remind you that on December 3 two policemen involved in the operation to search for militants in Chechnya, suffered from a mine explosion; one of them was killed.
"From December 3, a special operation is on in the vicinity of the village of Shalazhi, Urus-Martan District, aimed at searching and liquidating members of illegal armed formations (IAFs). The operation is held in a wooded area, where, according to available information, a small group of militants may be hiding," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
A MIA source has noted that the Urus-Martan District was not put under the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime, as the operation is carried out outside the dwelling settlements. Local residents report power agents' concentration in the vicinity of Shalazhi.
