Russia's Supreme Court upholds sentence to Budanov's killer
The judicial board on criminal cases has dismissed the appeal complaints of the defence of the Yusup Temerkhanov, sentenced to 15 years in a high security colony for killing the former Colonel Yuri Budanov.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 7 Temerkhanov was convicted for murdering Yuri Budanov on June 10, 2011. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison and an additional penalty of 18 months of freedom restriction. The convict refused to plead guilty. On May 13, his defence appealed against the verdict.
During the today's court session, the victim Valery Budanov called the verdict legal and asked the court to leave it in force. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that the groundless of the complaints and the data contained therein was announced by the prosecutor Morozova.
The defendant Temerkhanov has supported – by means of the video conference – his advocates, who asked to cancel the sentence and send the case for a new trial. However, the Supreme Court rejected the complaints of Temerkhanov's advocates.
Let us note here that earlier Temerkhanov's defenders argued that the motive of the murder had not been established.
