"Gorelectrotrans" employees in Volzhsky declare mass layouts
The labour collective of the Volzhsky Municipal Unitary Enterprise (VMUE) "Gorelectrotrans" (in charge of electric public transport) have addressed their open letter to the Governor of the Volgograd Region Sergey Bozhenov, saying about the poor status of the enterprise and mass layouts. The letter was signed by 178 employees of the VMUE "Gorelectrotrans".
In 2013, the city budget allocated 95 million roubles for the maintenance of the VMUE "Gorelectrotrans"; the budget for the next year is by 20 million smaller, the authors of the letter note.
"In order to live through this year, they dismissed more than 120 people. Currently, we operate the minimum of rolling stock and staff. The 2014 city budget plans to allocate 74 million roubles; and it means to close the enterprise completely. Survival in such conditions is impossible. Who would then build a new branch and service the city?" asks the letter.
The press service of the regional government told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the Governor Sergey Bozhenov had promised, during his visit to the "Gorelectrotrans", that the regional government would help build a new branch of Volzhsky tram.
According to preliminary calculations, the designing of the project documents and construction of a new tram branch in Volzhsky will cost more than 100 million roubles.
