Dagestani resident Shamil Salatgereev sentenced to six months of corrective works
The magistrate court of the Kazbek District of Dagestan has ruled on the case of the local resident Shamil Salatgereev, accused of stealing 1560 roubles, sentencing him to six months of corrective labour with deduction of 5% of his salary. The policemen, whom Shamil Salatgereev accused of torturing him, are still unpunished, said his advocate Sapiyat Magomedova.
Let us remind you that on September 18 Shamil Salatgereev, a villager of Kalininaul, Kazbek District, detained on suspicion of thefts, was tortured by policemen, and then tried to commit suicide. On September 24, Sapiyat Magomedova submitted an application to the investigating authorities demanding to prosecute the policemen of the Kazbek ROVD (District Interior Division).
Sapiyat Magomedova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that Shamil Salatgereev admitted his guilt and repented in the courtroom; however, the policemen, accused of torture, have not brought to justice yet, the lawyer has added.
Let us remind you that that Shamil Salatgereev's allegation of torture, which he sent to the local Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), was checked. The information contained in the application was not confirmed, says the answer received by Sapiyat Magomedova from the MIA.
