During week of November 25-December 1, 2013, 11 persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of November 25-December 1, 2013, at least 11 persons suffered in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. Of them, 8 persons were killed, and 3 persons were wounded. These are the results of calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The death toll includes two law enforcer in Dagestan, one civilian in Dagestan, and five suspected members of the armed underground, including three in Dagestan, and two in Ingushetia.

Attacks on law enforcers

On November 25, in the village of Olympiysky in the northern part of Khasavyurt (Dagestan), unidentified persons killed Senior Police Lieutenant Ruslan Oshitov, a staff member of the Khasavyurt ROVD (District Interior Division), in front of his house. The policeman and his acquaintance Samail Gulmasov were sitting in the car when the criminals opened fire on them from a machine gun and then fled. Samail Gulmasov was wounded and was brought to hospital in serious condition.

Special operations and CTOs

On November 26, a regime of counterterrorist operation (CTO) was introduced in the village of Novy Khushet of Makhachkala. In the village, power agents checked information about the whereabouts of militants from Makhachkala and Kaspiisk groupings. The suspects opened fire when power agents attempted to detain them. As a result of armed clash, three suspected militants were killed. According to the power agents, the killed militants were identified as Gasan Abataev (Khasan), the leader of the "Kaspiisk" grouping, Ratmir Agaev (Umar) and Israpil Ibragimov, active members of the same grouping.

On November 27, a regime of counterterrorist operation (CTO) was introduced in the municipality of Plievo of the city of Nazran. In the village, power agents blocked by a house presumably occupied by militants. The power agents broke into the house, and, as a result, two suspected militants were killed. While searching the territory, the power agents found near the house two hided barrels with weapons inside them: a grenade launcher, four submachine guns, and a lot of ammunition.

Bombings and terror acts

On November 27, in the city of Malgobek in Ingushetia, local residents found a bomb near the road between Nazranskaya and Proletarskaya Streets. The explosive device was a pot filled with explosives. Its power was 5 kilograms of TNT equivalent. The bomb was defused, no one was injured.

Attacks on civilians

On November 25, near the village of Karlanyurt of the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan, Arsen Shakhbulatov, a teacher from the Khasavyurt medrese, was attacked. Arsen Shakhbulatov got a gunshot wound to his leg. According to law enforcement bodies, the victim is well-known by the fact that he condemns Wahhabism while preaching.
