Organizing Committee presents Sochi 2014 Volunteer Team
On December 5, the Organizing Committee of the Winter Games in Sochi presented Sochi 2014 Volunteer Team, comprised of 25,000 volunteers from 26 volunteer centers across Russia. About 2,000 volunteers will come from foreign countries.
According to the Sochi 2014 website, most volunteers (24%) were selected in the Krasnodar region, followed by Moscow (11%) and St. Petersburg (7%). The Moscow region (a little less than 7%) and the Rostov region (3%) complete the top five leaders.
Approximately 2000 of the volunteers are foreign citizens. Half part of them come from the United States (10%), Ukraine (9%), Canada, the UK and Kazakhstan (8%). The team has also volunteers from New Zealand, Cameroon, Congo and Pakistan.
The average age of volunteers is 25, among them 60% are men and 40% are women. Approximately 60% of the total number of volunteers will work at the Olympic Coastal Cluster venues, primarily at the Fisht Olympic Stadium, and 40% will work in the Mountain Cluster venues, mainly at the Laura Cross-Country Ski & Biathlon Center.
