SC of KBR cancels Syrian student's deportation
Today, the Supreme Court (SC) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has quashed the February 10 decision of the Nalchik City Court to deport Atakhman Ayal, a Syrian Circassian and a student of Kabardino-Balkarian Agricultural University, away from Russia.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 10 the Nalchik City Court ruled to deport three Syrian students after they were seen as participants of the anti-Olympic action held on February 7. The students themselves assert that they happened to be at the venue just accidentally.
The formal reason for the deportation decision was the violation by the students of the immigration legislation.
Today, the SC of the KBR has overturned the deportation ruling and sent the case to the first instance for reconsideration, a source from the court told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The complaint of another Syrian student – Nart Abaza – will be considered later in March.
