Sochi Relay unites Paralympic Flames from all regions of Russia
Sochi has launched the final stage of the Paralympic Winter Games Torch Relay. On March 5, the Central Square of the Ski Centre "Roza Khutor" in Krasnaya Polyana was the venue of the symbolic unification of the Paralympic Flame, which had visited – within 10 days – 46 cities in eight federal districts of Russia.
The first torchbearer of the Paralympic Flame in Sochi was Mikhail Terentiev, the General Secretary of the Russian Paralympic Committee. He received the flame from the Mayor of Sochi Anatoly Pakhomov, who lit the torch from the united flame.
"The Paralympic Relay is a great event for Russia. Today is a very exciting day for me; I became a torchbearer of the Paralympic Torch Relay. I am proud to be involved in such a big event, which swept across the entire Russia. For 10 days we have done the impossible," said Terentiev. He noted that the relay has made a contribution to the creation of a barrier-free environment throughout Russia.
