Stavropol Territory holds two rallies in support of Russian-speaking population of Ukraine
Rallies, declared as actions in support of Russian-speaking population of the Crimea and the entire Ukraine, were held today in Kislovodsk and Pyatigorsk. The participants expressed their support for Russia's official position on the Crimean issue.
Both rallies were initiated personally by the Acting Governor Vladimir Vladimirov, as he stated on March 5 at the meeting with leaders of factions of the Territorial Duma.
The rally in Kislovodsk brought together some 50-60 people, including several children from a nearby school, as Sergey Nescheret, the Ataman of the Kislovodsk Cossack Society, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"Speakers began telling about the unity of the Soviet people. I was sorry for the kids; it seemed, they just didn't realize what was happening, and why they had been brought there," he said. "My impression was unpleasant."
In Pyatigorsk, more than a thousand people gathered in the central square of the city.
The audiences of both rallies adopted a resolution expressing approval of the actions of Russia's President and Government in the Crimea, as well as full support for the Russian-speaking population of Ukraine.
