Organizer of anti-Olympic action in Nalchik claims of harassment by police
Andzor Akhokhov, the organizer of the action against the Olympic Games, held in Nalchik, has stated that law enforcement bodies demanded from him to refute his earlier allegations that he was tortured at the police station.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 7, in Nalchik, the police prevented an action organized in protest against the 2014 Olympics, opened on that day in Sochi. According to the republic's prosecutor's office, in total, 29 persons were detained. Most of them were soon released; Andzor and Aslanbek Akhokhov were the last to get back at large on February 17.
After his release from the IVS (temporary detention facility), Andzor Akhokhov said that at night on February 8 he was tortured at the Nalchik OVD (Interior Division).
"The other day, policemen told my relatives that I should give a refutation of the information that I had been beaten at the OVD. Only in this case they would stop persecuting me," Akhokhov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent today.
The Kabardino-Balkarian Public Advocacy Centre is supervising the situation with pressure on the activist.
