Dagestani resident complains to rights defenders about being included in list of potential female terrorists
Sadiyat Arslanova, a resident of the village of Novokayakent of the Kayakent District of Dagestan, has filed a complaint to the public organization "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy). She states that law enforcers have included her data in the list of potential female terrorists.
According to Sadiyat Arslanova, she was included in the list of potential female terrorists after on July 23, 2013, her husband Kochubek Kochubekov was killed during a special operation in Makhachkala.
Meanwhile, last July, relatives of Kochubek Kochubekov appealed to the Dagestani Regional Public Organization (DRPO) "Pravozaschita" with a complaint, in which they questioned the version presented by law enforcers and reported inconsistencies in the released official data about the shootout.
According to Sadiyat Arslanova, despite the fact that her husband had been killed in past year, she is still subjected to continuous pressure. She was repeatedly called to the police station for preventive conversations, and she was fingerprinted several times. Besides, policemen took her DNA sample.
On February 7, a search was carried out in the office of the human rights organization, and different documents were seized, including complaints filed by victims. This was reported by Aisha Selimkhanova, a representative of the DRPO "Pravozaschita".
Sadiyat Arslanova may appeal against the law enforcers' actions to the Prosecutor's Office and file a lawsuit to the court. This was stated by Ziyavutdin Uvaisov, Chairman of Advocates' Chamber "Tradition".
