Two trucks with humanitarian aid leave Volgograd for Sevastopol
On Sunday, two trucks with humanitarian aid went to Sevastopol from Fallen Fighters Square in Volgograd. Prior to the departure, a rally was held on the square, and it was attended by about 100 persons.
To provide assistance to the Crimea, people created the united "Stalingrad Front". Within it, representatives of the peoples living in the Volgograd Region, social activists, manufacturers and businessmen will provide assistance to the sister republic of Crimea. The Regional Charity Foundation for social support of people and the regional office of "Russian Red Cross" became the coordinators to collect humanitarian aid.
The authors of the appeal regarding the collection of humanitarian aid note that "at present, the situation is on the verge of a humanitarian disaster - grocery stores, social service enterprises, banks, schools, pharmacies tend to get closed; there are delays in payment of social benefits, pensions for veterans; government agencies cease operations."
Governor Sergey Bozhenov has suggested officials from the regional government also to make personal donations to the foundation to provide aid to the Crimea and Sevastopol, the twin city of Volgograd. The regional leaders have decided to donate their one-day salaries for that purpose. This was reported by the press service of the governor of the region.
