Armenian town of Vardenis protests against police actions
On March 10, near the city administration of the Armenian town of Vardenis, a rally was held against the police actions. The rally was attended by a few dozen of people.
According to the activists, Valery Bagyan, the chief of the local police, put pressure on citizens by his actions. One of the participants of the protest action has stated that "day and night", law enforcers conduct searches and detain local residents within the investigation into the cases of theft of ore from the local gold mine Sotk.
"All people are tired of the new police chief. The policemen repeatedly conduct searches in the house, bring people to the police station, demand not to file complaints and let them go," the man has stated.
Till present, no comments from representatives of the Vardenis police and Valery Bagyan himself in connection with the protest action are available.
Officials from the city administration of Vardenis have stated that they are not aware of the reason for that the city residents are protesting.
