In Armenia, Tigran Petrosyan's advocate reports on unlawful actions of investigating authorities and courts
The accusation against Tigran Petrosyan, a participant of the protest action "Million Mask March" is unlawful, and the investigation team does nothing for the fourth month already and unjustly holds the protestor in custody. This was reported by Ara Zakaryan, the advocate of the arrested protestor.
On November 5, 2013, Tigran Petrosyan was detained together with other participants of the protest action organized by Shant Arutyunyan, the leader of the "Tsegakron" Party. He was charged under Paragraph 1 of Article 316 (rendering resistance to a power representative).
On February 28, the court of general jurisdiction of the administrative district of Kentron-Nork Marash extended the arrest of Tigran Petrosyan for the third time and brought the measure of restraint up to six months.
According to Ara Zakaryan, the only investigating action against his client was a confrontation with a policeman, held in late February.
"I believe that the authorities delay the investigation, since they has made a decision to give a lesson to those persons, who dare to express their dissatisfaction towards their actions. If working hard, 30 investigators could complete the case within 1-1.5 months," said the advocate of Tigran Petrosyan at the press conference held on March 10. He has added that "there are no reasons for delaying the investigation into the case, and the courts are to release the defendant".
