Moscow Court extends arrest of man, suspected of burning Koran
The Cheryomushki District Court of Moscow has extended the measure of restraint in the form of the arrest by one month till April 9 to Alexander Sokolov, a 23-year-old resident of the Tver Region, who is suspected of hooliganism and burning of the Koran in the capital at night of January 1, 2014. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by the press service of the Cheryomushki District Court.
Let us remind you that video records, showing a group of people burning Muslim holy book, the Koran, and beating in the Moscow metro of a young man from the Caucasus to force him to abandon his religion, appeared on the "YouTube" shortly after the terror acts committed on the eve of the New Year in Volgograd. On January 14, Alexander Sokolov, one of the suspects involved in this incident, was detained. On January 16, the court pronounced the decision to arrest him till March 9.
The court session, which made the decision to extend the period of detention of Alexander Sokolov in custody for one more month, was held on March 7. This was reported by the Cheryomushki Court of Moscow.
The criminal case was instituted against Alexander Sokolov under Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (actions aimed at inciting hatred and hostility on grounds of race, nationality, language, and origin, committed publicly).
