Krasnodar court upholds fine imposed on Lydia Lepsveridze
The Krasnodar Territorial Court has upheld the fine of 10,000 roubles imposed on the 75-year-old Lydia Lepsveridze for her picket held near Putin's residence.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Lydia Lepsveridze, a Sochi resident, holds protests – since autumn 2013 – against the decisions of the courts, which had deprived her of the housing after the death of her husband. On October 12, 2013, the police detained her, while holding a picket near the residence of the Russian president.
Meanwhile, as reported by Igor Vasiliev, the leader of the Sochi City Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), Lydia Lepsveridze's appeal on violation of her rights was delivered in Moscow to Sergey Obukhov, an MP of the Russian State Duma from the CPRF.
"Within three days I plan to study the appeal and then send requests to competent persons, who, I believe, should find out the grounds of the courts, which are supposed to protect human rights but whose decisions had made the elderly woman homeless. I think that by early May the situation with Lydia Lepsveridze will become clearer," said Obukhov.
Lydia Lepsveridze has explained the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that her decision to turn to the CPRF had emerged, because for the third year she failed to find justice in law enforcement bodies.
