In Dagestan, Novosasitli residents file notification of picket against police actions
Residents of the village of Novosasitli of the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan have filed to the Khasavyurt administration a notification of a picket. On March 17, the villagers intend to hold the picket against unlawful, in their opinion, actions of the district policemen against them.
According to Rasul, a local resident, the picket is to take place in the main square of Khasavyurt. The Novosasitli residents intend to make a stand against unlawful detentions without court's sanctions, torture and cases fabricated against the villagers, Rasul states.
The notification specifies one of the detainees' parents as the organizer of the picket. "The reason is that the young man was detained unlawfully; he was subjected to torture; they interrogate him without advocates and even without any duty advocate," the "Caucasian Knot" has been told by Rasul.
According to the organizers of the picket, they have already met Khaibula Umarov, the deputy head of the administration for ideology and public safety, the secretary of the Antiterrorist Commission and the commission on adaptation of former militants. He has promised to check the information about unlawful acts against the detainees.
