Organizer of Nalchik anti-Olympic action files complaint about torture to ICRF and Prosecutor's Office
Andzor Akhokhov, the organizer of the anti-Olympic action held in Nalchik, has sent an appeal to the Prosecutor of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), the head of the Investigating Department of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) for the KBR, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the KBR, the Human Rights Centre of the KBR and the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial". In his appeal, he claims he was subjected to torture at the police station. Andzor Akhokhov complains law enforcers seized property belonging to him and his family members during the search of his house.
According to Andzor Akhokhov, he was brought blindfolded to an office at the police station and was subjected to torture with electric current. After that, he was asked questions about for what intelligence service he was working, who sponsored the action. The law enforcers also wondered how he got acquainted with the activists and who Avraham Shmulevich was (an Israeli political analyst, who studies the issues of the Caucasus and the "Circassian issue", note of the "Caucasian Knot").
The KBR's Human Rights Centre has received the appeal sent by Andzor Akhokhov. This was confirmed by Valery Khatazhukov, the leader of the Centre. "We ask the law enforcement agencies and the KBR authorities to carefully investigate the situation. Meanwhile, all the points mentioned by Andzor Akhokhov are to be carefully examined," Valery Khatazhukov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Valery Khatazhukov has emphasized that the case has already obtained a public resonance not only in Russia but also in foreign countries.
