Prosecution of journalist Nikolai Yarst stopped in Sochi

As reported by the lawyer Alexander Popkov, the criminal proceedings against the Sochi journalist Nikolai Yarst has been stopped on rehabilitating grounds, said.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Nikolai Yarst, a journalist of the Public Television of Russia, was detained in Sochi on May 23, 2013, on charges of drug possession.

On Saturday, March 15, 2014, Yarst and his advocates received from the police investigator Liana Khachatryan a statement on termination of the criminal case "for lack of elements of the crime." According to the lawyer, now he and his client are thinking about their next steps.

Alexander Popkov has explained that the prosecutor had returned the case for four times for revision; and after the fourth occasion the investigator stopped the prosecution of Nikolai Yarst.

Nikolai has added that after a criminal case was opened against him, he had no employment. He also said that his recognizance not to leave Sochi was also cancelled.
