In Chechnya, officials plan to remove all garbage from Christian cemeteries till April 20
All the Christian cemeteries located in the territory of Chechnya will be presented in the proper order for the upcoming celebration of the Orthodox Easter. This was reported by an official from the administration of the Chechen leader and the government.
Russian residents of Chechnya have filed complaints to human rights defenders against acts of vandalism on Christian cemeteries in Chechnya. After that, in this February, staff members of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" themselves visited the central cemetery in Grozny, cemeteries in some Cossack villages. They talked to local residents and have found rightness of their statements.
"Starting from March 4, we organize days of volunteer work to clean the Christian cemeteries located in the territory of our republic and to bring them into the proper order," stated officials from the administration of the Chechen leader and the government.
When commenting on the information that the Orthodox cemeteries in Chechnya are being destroyed by unidentified vandals, an official from the Grozny city administration told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that "such facts are not widespread."
"Unique facts of that kind could and can really take place; however, it is not a mass phenomenon," he has emphasized.
