Chechnya resumes compensation payments to victims of political repressions
This week, Chechnya resumes compensation payments to victims of political repressions suspended in 2011, and they will be completed till the end of this March. In total, the lists of beneficiaries of the compensations included more than 95,000 people. This was reported by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Development of Chechnya.
It should be noted that the compensation payments to victims of Stalin's deportation of 1944 were launched in 2005 as part of the Russian Law "On Rehabilitation of Victims of Political Repressions" and were suspended in 2011 because of the need for checking the lists of applicants for compensation.
This week, the compensation payment process will be resumed, since the necessary funds have been already received from the federal government. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by an official from the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Development of Chechnya. According to the official, till the end of March, the issue of compensation payments is to be closed completely. Each person included in the list of beneficiaries of compensations to victims of political repressions is to receive 10,000 roubles.
