Rally in Novocherkassk demands to cancel construction of kindergartens in "Krasnaya Vesna" Grove
The participants in the rally held on March 15 against felling trees in the "Krasnaya Vesna" (Red Spring) Grove in Novocherkassk to clear up place for building kindergartens, have signed a petition addressed to the authorities and demanding to preserve the natural object, said one of the organizers of the rally.
On November 8, 2013, the City Duma of Novocherkassk decided, by the majority vote, to allocate part of the land of the above Grove to build two kindergartens. On November 24, about 200 residents held a rally against the construction for the cost of the trees. Another rally was held on December 1.
The recent rally held on March 15 was attended, according to Vladislav Zhuravlyov, an activist of the organizing committee against felling trees, was attended by about one hundred people.
"At the end of the protest rally, its participants signed a petition addressed to the Mayor of Novocherkassk Vladimir Kirgintsev and the Rostov Region Governor Vasily Golubev, which states that they consider the decision of the city administration was an arbitrariness directed against the interests of the city community," Zhuravlyov said in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
