EU imposes sanctions against Senator from North Ossetia because of situation around Crimea
Alexander Totoonov, a member of the Russian Federation Council from North Ossetia was put on the list of persons, against whom the European Union (EU) imposed sanctions because of the situation around Crimea. Alexander Totoonov has said the sanctions will not change his position.
In particular, the sanctions include a six-month ban for the entry to the EU and freezing the assets placed in bank accounts with the EU's banks, the "Interfax" quotes the text of the statement as declaring.
These additional measures were imposed against 21 officials from Russia and Crimea. The list published at BBC's website includes Alexander Totoonov, Senator from the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, who actively expressed his opinion on the introduction of troops at the meeting of the Russian Federation Council, held on March 1.
"I am certainly flattered by the attention of the European Union to my point of view. However, it will remain unchanged regardless of any sanctions," Alexander Totoonov was quoted by his assistant Ekaterina Tolasova in her conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Besides, the senator assistant has noted that Alexander Totoonov has no business and no property in foreign countries.
