Relatives of Chechen resident Magomed Tokaev declare his kidnapping
In Chechnya, relatives of Magomed Tokaev cannot locate him since January 22, claiming his kidnapping by law enforcers. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Chechnya does not confirm the information about Magomed Tokaev's detention.
The kidnapping of the 27-year-old Magomed Tokaev was reported by his father Isa Tokaev. On March 17, he turned for help to the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" with his written application, in which he asks rights defenders to help in searching his son.
According to Isa Tokaev, on January 22, law enforcers came to their home and took Magomed away.
"I wasn't informed about the reason for his detention; they said that I could follow them to the Lenin ROVD (District Interior Division) and wait for my son there," Isa Tokaev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to his story, when he arrived in the Lenin ROVD of Grozny, he was told that "nobody was brought there." "As I understood, my son was not the only detainee on that day, since other relatives of detained young people stood at the building of the ROVD. All of them were detained on the same night as my son. Since then, I know nothing about Magomed's whereabouts," said the father.
