On March 3-9, 5 persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
During the week of March 3-9, 2014, the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus claimed at least five human lives, while there was no data about any wounded persons. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
All the casualties are members of the armed underground in Dagestan.
Special and counterterrorist operations
On March 3, The Dagestani city of Izberbash was put under the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime. Law enforcers blocked a house in the city centre, where members of the armed underground were detected. A shootout burst out; and in the course of the operation the house was completely destroyed. According to the sources from law enforcement bodies, at least four persons were killed in the course of the special operation. According to other sources, the total death toll was five persons.
On March 8, the CTO regime was introduced in the Untsukul District of Dagestan. Special agents and policemen are conducting an operation aimed at searching for militants, their bases and helpers.
