Esenaev and Askhabomarov, killed in Dagestan, were suspected of aiding militants
According to power agents, two of the four persons killed in Khasavyurt on March 24 were not direct participants of the "Babayurt" militant grouping, but actively helped its members.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that, according to investigators, on March 24, the Khasavyurt police tried to stop a car to check documents; however, its passengers opened fire and were killed by retaliatory shooting. Later, the casualties were identified as Ismail Kazanbiev, Zurap Esenaev, Magomedgadji Askhabomarov and the leader of the "Babayurt" grouping Idris Akavov.
The 33-year-old Zurap Esenaev lived in the village of Dylym, Kazbek District of Dagestan; and investigators believe that he had actively helped the members of Akavov's grouping. The 42-year-old Magomedgadji Askhabomarov, a resident of the village of Igali, Gumbet District, was also suspected of complicity with the "Babayurt" grouping.
Akavov's grouping was involved in the murder of two GIBDD (traffic police) inspectors in Babayurt in November 2012, shelling of four other inspectors, explosions of several local shops and the murder on July 4, 2013, of a local businessman Mamedali Makhmudov, the "Kommersant" writes with reference to a source from law enforcement bodies.
