In Armenia, opponents of new pension system held rally outside Constitutional Court

On Friday, March 28, in Yerevan, opponents of the mandatory accumulative pension system held an action blindfolded near the building of the Constitutional Court.

Let us remind you that protests against changes in the pension legislation are regularly held in Armenia.

On Friday, the Constitutional Court started hearing the lawsuit that challenges the Law "On Accumulative Pension". Activists of the civil initiative "I'm Against!" came to the building and staged a protest there.

They blindfolded their eyes with ribbons as a sign that "the justice must be blind and stick only to the law." The action was supported also by elderly people, who came, as they said, to protest against the "illegal decision", the portal "Epress.am" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Armenian authorities find the pension reform a must. On February 15, addressing the Congress of the Volunteer Union "Erkrapakh", Serzh Sargsyan said that 80 percent of Armenia's population are unhappy with the new pension system, but the money received as a result of the reforms is needed for the economic development, including a further pension increase.
