Four Georgian sailors claim non-payment of wages and ask authorities to help

Four Georgian sailors who stay onboard a ship in the Turkish port of Iskenderun have addressed for help to Georgian authorities. According to their version, the owner of the ship fails to pay their salaries; and they have problems with foodstuffs.

According to the NGO "Former Political Prisoners for Human Rights", the ship is sailing under the British flag and called "Aqua Hercules"; the above sailors are Merab Djibladze, Elgudja Diasamidze, Vitaly Tavartkiladze and Ilya Barabadze.

According to the NGO, the sailors contacted the Embassy of Georgia in Turkey and asked for help.

"The ship is unattended for two weeks. They say that the owner went bankrupt and can't pay the wages to the crew," the "Trend" quotes the NGO's statement.

Meanwhile, the Istanbul office of the International Seamen's Union is trying to investigate the problem and return the sailors home.
