Tbilisi: former political prisoners demand rehabilitation

In Tbilisi, starting March 25, the amnestied political prisoners are holding daily protests demanding rehabilitation. Former political prisoners promise to stop the protest if their demands are met, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in December 2012 the Parliament of Georgia recognized 190 inmates as political prisoners. In January 2013, the Law "On Amnesty" was passed, under which all the 190 political prisoners were released.

"We addressed the government, the president and the chairman of the parliament back on October 10, 2013, asking to start the rehabilitation process of former political prisoners. But until now there is no response," said Gocha Tsiklauri, one of the protesters.

According to his story, the cases most of the political prisoners who were amnestied, have not been considered yet; therefore, they cannot achieve rehabilitation and re-socialization.
