Chechnya: court demands to present results of full medical examination of Suleiman Edigov

The health condition of the hunger-striker Suleiman Edigov, a Chechen resident, accused of an attempt on the life of a law enforcer and arms trafficking, does not allow him to participate in court sessions, the prosecution asserts. The court has decided to hold a full medical examination of Edigov and present the results by April 7, says a press release of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Suleiman Edigov is on hunger strike since March 14. In his opinion, Judge German Aleksandrov is biased while considering his case.

On March 31, Edigov was brought on a stretcher to the Supreme Court of Chechnya for a session. He spoke with difficulty and looked pale and skinny.

The prosecutor said that in this condition Edigov cannot participate fully in the trial.

Let us remind you that Edigov's case acquired public resonance after Judge Vakhid Abubakarov self-withdrew from the case on November 1, 2013, explaining his decision by the fact that he had been pressed by some senior official from the Chechen MIA.
