Koba Khabazi, co-founder of the NGO "Free Zone", questioned by Investigative Service of Georgia's Ministry of Finance
Koba Khabazi, the former deputy mayor of Batumi, ex-chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Mayoralty of Tbilisi and co-founder of the NGO "Free Zone", was interrogated by the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia in connection with the activities of the above Supervisory Board. His questioning was held at the background of the action in support of Khabazi, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
After the questioning, Koba Khabazi said that investigators behaved correctly and added that the initiative to institute a criminal case against the Supervisory Board had a political character.
"This is a politically customized case aimed at interfering with the political activities of the opposition before the elections to local self-governments," said Khabazi.
As noted by Georgy Kakhkakhishshvili, Khabazi's advocate, the Prosecutor's Office had already summoned 80 persons on the case of the Supervisory Board within the past month.
"Investigators suspect that the Supervisory Board did nothing; and its members were recruited for political reasons. But we actually worked, issued decisions and fulfilled our duties – the proof is in the documents about our initiatives and decisions," said Georgy Ruzaya, another member of the Supervisory Board, who was also summoned for questioning in March.
