Major contractor of Sochi Olympics goes bankrupt
The Scientific and Production Association (SPA) "Mostovik" from the city of Omsk, one of the Olympic contractors, has filed a claim to the arbitration asking to recognize it bankrupt. The company has a complex financial situation in connection with losses on several projects, including the "Olimpstroy".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the "Mostovik" had rebuilt and commissioned the engineering and communication networks in the Olympic Park, participated in building the Olympic transport hubs, including the railway station in Adler, as well as several sports facilities – the sledge-and-bobsleigh track and the Big Ice Arena.
In February, the company was not able to timely service its credit obligations to the Gazprombank, Alfa-Bank, Savings Bank and other creditors, said Oleg Shishov, Director General and main owner of the "Mostovik".
According to Shishov, in March, the construction works were reduced by 40%; in April – by 60%. The banks have filed lawsuits against the Olympic contractor on debt recovery.
