Novocherkassk court questions leader of "Don Women's Union"
The Novocherkassk City Court has questioned Valentina Cherevatenko, the head of the "Don Women's Union", under the case of recognizing the Union a foreign agent. The next session is scheduled for April 16, and plans to continue interrogating the witnesses.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the lawsuit of the Novocherkassk prosecutor's office on recognizing the above Union a foreign agent is considered since October 31, 2013. The City Court postponed its sessions several times because the comprehensive examination was underway.
At today's court session Valentina Cherevatenko was questioned as a witness; she added that Leonid Petrashis, the chairman of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) of the Region, was also interrogated today.
According to Valentina Cherevatenko, she denied the information that her Union is engaged in political activities. "In fact, the Union is engaged in social work; and how it is treated by this or that structure – it's a totally different story," she said and added that the document, received by the court as an expert's opinion, "can hardly be treated as an expertise."
