In Adygea, Deputy of Maikop District Soviet found guilty of propaganda of Nazi symbols

On April 8, Alexander Petin, a Deputy of the Maikop District Soviet, was found guilty of promoting Nazi symbols and fined by 2000 roubles, said Andrei Scryabin, the Judge Assistant of the Maikop District Court. His defence asserts that it was not a swastika, but some construction drawing made on the wall of the house.

On April 5, employees of the Maikop ROVD (District Interior Division) drew up an administrative protocol, stating that on March 3 in the village of Tulskiy, Maikop District of the Republic of Adygea, Alexander Petin at his residence promoted publicly Nazi symbols, Vladimir Karataev, the public defender of the Deputy and editor-in-chief of the "Zakubanye" newspaper, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to Karataev, this was not a swastika, but some construction drawing made with chalk by the builders of the house during its construction back in 2008. He believes that the persecution of Petin is caused by his conflict with the Chairman of the District Soviet Dmitry Ushakov.
