Nagorno-Karabakh MPs demand to compensate for damage to Kesab residents

On April 16, at the session of the National Assembly of Nagorno-Karabakh, representatives of the factions "Democratic Party of Artsakh", "Free Homeland", and the MP group "Artsakhatun" made a statement on the events in the Syrian town of Kesab. They urged the international community to pay attention to citizens who were forced to leave their homes.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Armenian Diaspora in Syria appeared in a difficult situation after the beginning of hostilities between the government forces and the opposition. On March 21, the mostly Armenian-populated town of Kesab and the nearby villages were attacked by groupings of "Al-Nusra Front" and the "Islamic Front". About 600 Armenian families have evacuated from Kesab to Latakia.

"We express our full support to Syrian Armenians and call on the world community to pay attention to the need to immediately return the Armenian population expelled from Kesab to their homes and to compensate them for material and moral damages," declares the statement of Vagram Atanesyan, the head of the Commission for External Relations of the National Assembly of Nagorno-Karabakh.
