Azerbaijani journalist Parviz Gashimli stops his hunger strike

In Azerbaijan, journalist Parviz Gashimli, who is kept in the SIZO (pre-trial prison) of the Azerbaijani Ministry of National Security (MNS), has stopped his hunger strike. He went on hunger strike three days ago in protest against the violation of his rights. This was stated by the journalist himself at the trial, where he is one of the defendants in the case. Meanwhile, Parviz Gashimli claims he is still subjected to pressure in the SIZO.

Parviz Gashimli has stopped his protest after the SIZO administration assured him that in the coming days, he will be allowed to be visited by his family members, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

"However, the MNS still continues to subject me to pressure. The pressure increased even more, when I complained about the conditions of detention at the previous court session held on April 15. They do not let me walking. They subject me to pressure under any pretext. For example, they find my fault in the 'wrong' way the books are put on the table. They treat that as violation of order and disobedience committed by me, and they threaten to place me into the dungeon," said Parviz Gashimli.
