Woman from Nalchik claims policemen tortured her husband

Zuleikhat Ozova, a resident of Nalchik, has appealed to the Investigating Department for Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), the Ombudsperson for the KBR, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) of the KBR and the HRC "Memorial", saying that policemen beat up her husband Beslan Ozov and forced to self-incrimination.

On April 6, Zuleikhat learned from the advocate that her husband was detained in the morning on April 5 by unidentified policemen, who "put a bag over his head and took him away to some unknown place." According to the woman, after detention, for several hours, her husband "was beaten up with truncheons and tortured with electric shocks, demanding to answer the questions, which he did not even understand."

According to Zuleikhat, policemen threatened to kill not only her husband but also his brothers, thus forcing him to confess.

The woman asks to defend her husband against unlawful prosecution, identify the policemen, who tortured him and bring them to liability in line with the law.
