In Dagestan, new director of Kizlyar Cognac Factory is appointed, local sources report

In Dagestan, a new director of the Kizlyar Cognac Factory has been appointed. This was reported by Nikolai Spirin, Cossack Chieftain of the Kizlyar Special Near-Border District of the Lower Terek Cossack Army. According to his story, Oleg Artukhov became the company's director. Nikolai Spirin has noted that officials from Makhachkala accompanied the new director to the administrative building of the factory. The Chieftain has added that no official information about the appointment of the new director was made public. The Ministry of Agriculture still also does not comment on the news.

Let us remind you that on February 4, Ramazan Abdulatipov, the leader of Dagestan, announced the privatization of the Kizlyar Cognac Factory to be planned for September 2014. On February 24, more than one thousand people attended a rally against the idea. The factory team also supports the return of Evgeny Druzhinin, the former director of the facility.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Nikolai Spirin that the factory team met the new appointment in the negative; and it might hold protest actions.

"If they do not want to leave Evgeny Druzhinin, the former director, at the position, they might appoint the director of the factory staff. It employs 302 persons; and many of them have two diplomas of higher education – they are experienced professionals. Or, at least, the factory team might be given a chance to participate in the process and nominate their candidates," the Cossack Chieftain has noted.
