MfE: earthquake in Southern Chechnya caused no victims or destructions
The earthquake that hit the Vedeno District of Chechnya in the morning on April 27 caused no human victims or destructions, a source from the Republic's Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. Its epicentre was in a forested mountainous terrain, thus, serious consequences were avoided, the expert explained.
The earthquake occurred on April 27 at 5:42 a.m. Moscow time at the depth of 14 kilometres. According to the Chief Department of the local MfE, the magnitude of the seismic event was 4.2 points. The tremors did not affect the operation of the electric grid, said the press service of the "Interregional Distribution Grid Company (IDGC) of Northern Caucasus".
As reported by the Republic's MfE, the calamity caused no damage to district residents. Locals said that they felt small bumps on the surface of the earth, but did not pay great attention to them.
Let us remind you that the strongest recent earthquake occurred in Chechnya on October 11, 2008, and killed 13 and wounded more than 100 people.
