9-hour-long interrogation of Leila Yunus is over in Baku

Leila Yunus, Director of the Institute for Peace and Democracy (IPD), left the building of the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Azerbaijan at about 3:00 p.m. Moscow time after being questioned for nine hours at the Investigating Department for Grave Crimes.

The lawyer Khalid Bagirov said that Yunus was questioned as a witness in the case of journalist Rauf Mirkadyrov suspected of treason and collaboration with secret services of Armenia, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Let us remind you that on April 28, power agents detained Leila Yunus and her husband, conflictologist Arif Yunus, at the Baku Airport, from where the detainees were taken to their apartment, where a search was conducted and where Arif felt bad and was taken away by an ambulance. Leila Yunus was taken to the GPO for questioning.

Let us note here that on April 25 Leila Yunus made a statement, together with Laura Bagdasaryan, Director of the Research Centre "Region" from Armenia, in support of Rauf Mirkadyrov, noting that Mirkadyrov is an active participant of online conferences on the joint Azerbaijani-Armenian website publicdialogues.info, launched by Yunus and Bagdasaryan, and of international conferences; he is blamed just for his participation in the events of "people's diplomacy".
