Judicial inquiry into Politkovskaya's murder case is over
On April 28, the Moscow City Court (MCC) completed the judicial inquiry into the murder of Anna Politkovskaya, an observer of the "Novaya Gazeta" newspaper. Rustam Makhmudov, accused of committing the murder declared his innocence; however, Anna's daughter did not believe him.
At the court session on April 28, the defendant Rustam Makhmudov evidenced to the court and declared his innocence to the crime. He asserts that he bought fake documents to the name of Nail Zagidullin, because "in those days it was difficult for a Chechen to rent an apartment in Moscow."
The evidence of the defendant Rustam Makhmudov was inconclusive, Vera Politkovskaya, Anna's daughter, said after the court session.
"His words about his non-involvement in shadowing my mother are refuted by the records of tapping Rustam's phone conversations that are present in the case files," Vera Politkovskaya told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Let us remind you that on April 15 Rustam's brothers – Ibragin and Djabrail Makhmudov – were questioned at the session of the MCC.
