Law enforcers confiscated printed materials when searching Leyla Yunus' flat in Baku

In the evening on April 29, employees of law enforcement bodies of Azerbaijan conducted a search of the flat of Leyla Yunus, Director of the Institute for Peace and Democracy (IPD), who had been detained in Baku airport with her husband and taken to the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) for questioning. The lawyer Bagirov reports that law enforcers took away some documents and other printed materials and left, leaving Yunus at large.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on April 29 Leyla Yunus and her husband Arif Yunus were detained at the airport in Baku. Later, Leyla Yunus for nine hours was questioned at the GPO as a witness in the case of journalist Rauf Mirkadirov, who is suspected of treason.

On the same day, law enforcers conducted a search of the IPM's office.

Earlier, the press service of the Azerbaijani GPO said that the detention of Yunus spouses at the Baku airport was necessary, because they had to give testimony under some investigated criminal case.

The Norwegian Helsinki Committee issued a statement calling on "all states and international organizations to articulate their protest" against the detention of Yunus spouses and prosecution of journalist Rauf Mirkadirov.
