Chechen power agents strengthen security for May holidays

In the context of May holidays, since Thursday, the Chechen law enforcement bodies will switchover to the round-the-clock service, a law enforcement source told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. The increased security regime will last until May 11.

The police will pay particular attention to the festivities on May 1 and Victory Day – May 9.

Not only festivity areas, but also public agencies, educational institutions and strategic objects, will be under day-and-night guarding and patrolling. Reinforced police units will be on duty in central streets of cities and large towns. During the holidays, Grozny will restrict traffic in the downtown and certain streets in residential neighbourhoods.

On May 10, Chechnya will mark the Day of Memory and Grief of the republic's nations, established in 2011 by the head of the republic Ramzan Kadyrov. Earlier, this date was marked on February 23, the day of deportation in 1944 of Chechens and Ingushes to Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
