NAC: militant involved in armed underground in Dagestan was killed in Tatarstan

Rais Mingaleev, the leader of the grouping "Mujahideen of Tatarstan" closely connected with the armed underground in Dagestan, was killed during a special operation held in the town of Chistopol. This was reported by the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC).

The above special operation in Chistopol of Tatarstan, the special operation was held at night of May 1. Law enforcers blocked the garage with two men suspected of involvement in terrorist activities.

According to the NAC, the men, who were blocked in the garage, refused to surrender. One of them opened fire and threw a grenade at the law enforcers. However, he was killed by return fire. The other suspected militant was fatally wounded as a result of explosion of an improvised explosive device (IED) in the garage.

Both killed men have been preliminary identified. One of them was Rais Mingaleev, born in 1976. According to the NAC, in 2012, he organized a terrorist grouping "Mujahideen of Tatarstan". Rais Mingaleev collaborated with the Dagestani armed underground and emissaries of international terrorist organizations, the "ITAR-TASS" reports with reference to the NAC.

The other killed man was Beslan Nazipov, born in 1979. Both of those killed men were involved in the assassination attempt on Ildus Faizov, Mufti of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Tatarstan, and the murder of Valiulla Yakupov, the head of the SAM Training Department, committed in July 2012, the "Intertat.ru" reports with reference to the NAC.
