"Rustavi-2" bosses state secret surveillance and tapping in TV Company
Nika Gvaramiya, Director General of the TV Company "Rustavi-2", said today at a briefing in Georgia, that secret surveillance was conducted in their office. He managed to get a CD with records of conversations that took place in the offices of the company top managers.
The CD was handed over to the company by an informant from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia, who said that the MIA's archive keeps several other similar data carriers. The informant was later killed, said Gvaramiya.
The "Rustavi-2" has urged the law enforcement bodies to ensure an immediate and efficient investigation into the facts of secret tapping and surveillance at the TV Company.
Gigi Tsereteli, an MP from the "National Movement", has noted that such a phenomenon is "a very grave fact for the state, which positions itself as democratic."
