Dagestani court acquits and sets free doctor Gunashev accused of contacts with militants

Today, the Soviet District Court of Makhachkala has acquitted the doctor Marat Gunashev, who had been accused of involvement in illegal armed formations (IAFs).

Let us remind you that Marat Gunashev, a doctor from a Makhachkala hospital was detained on November 28, 2012, under the murder case of the chief of the city UVD (Interior Department). His colleague Shamil Gasanov, another figurant in the case, was killed after being detained during a search on November 28, 2010. Gunashev refused to plead guilty and treated all the charges as groundless.

The decision of the court to acquit Marat Gunashev was announced today by his advocate Zaur Magomedov. According to his story, the court released Gunashev from custody right in the courtroom "for lack of crime attributes in his actions."
